For those of you who are business owners in the City of Hermosa Beach, the city and the fire department would like to thank you for choosing Hermosa Beach as your place of business. We support local business and would like everyone to be successful.

The Hermosa Beach Fire Department performs annual fire inspections on all businesses and multi-family dwellings in the city. The City of Hermosa has adopted the California Uniform Fire Code (U.F.C.), as law. The U.F.C. includes state regulations for fire protection and public safety.

On an annual basis, each business is inspected by the fire department to ensure that these codes and regulations are being followed. By performing these inspections, we try to minimize the chance for fire and property damage, while trying to increase public safety. Not only is it our job to enforce such codes by law, but we also believe that we are minimizing tragedies in our community. The fire department hopes that a business owner views us as valuable resource to safeguard their investment.

There are common codes or violations that we look for that can be a simple fix to the owner. Some of these regulations include having fire extinguishers and making sure they are serviced once a year, using proper electrical wiring and components, having proper exits and keeping them clear, and storing flammable liquids properly.
