City of Hermosa Beach --- Candidate Statements

STATEMENT OF: Rosamond Fogg

CANDIDATE FOR: City Treasurer

For Hermosa Beach Stop Oil: Leader, Treasurer

For OSPAC (Save the Greenbelt): President

The City Treasurer's role is administrative and narrowly defined. The city's regulations require no special training or background. However, a Treasurer is uniquely positioned to scrutinize exactly how the city carries out our financial business. My pledge to you as citizens of Hermosa Beach is to vigilantly ensure taxpayer's monies are properly managed.

My efforts have been and will continue to be to improve and enhance our beautiful beachside community. Priceless benefits and increased property values arise from conserving our open space environments and refusing to trade away our safety and quality of life. But all of this comes at a price. How do you pay for it?

If the UUT is repealed, will the city reallocate its budget without forcing residents to accept compromised levels of city service and safety? If best efforts cannot sustain a high standard of public service, are we as a community willing to vote for future tax increases?

As your Treasurer, I will face these fiscal uncertainties for you, the residents of Hermosa Beach, encouraging fair and equitable solutions.
