City of Hermosa Beach -- STATEMENT OF MICHAEL KEEGAN

STATEMENT OF MICHAEL KEEGAN

CANDIDATE FOR HERMOSA BEACH CITY GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Member of the City Council

Hermosa Beach is a very special place.   I moved here 15 years ago after graduating from the University of Illinois.   Two years later I bought a home and married my college sweetheart, Lynn.   Nine years ago, we opened our business Manhattan Beach Bagel & Bread Co.   I am active in the community and want to do more for this great city.

I am a Public Works Commissioner for the City of Hermosa Beach and the Treasurer of the Hermosa Beach Community Center Foundation.   I support such groups as the Hermosa Beach Education Foundation, Wellness Center, Hospice Foundation, Hermosa Beach Woman's Club, Habitat for Humanity, and VOICE.   Additionally, I coach girls' youth basketball in Hermosa Beach.

When elected I will work to:

Reduce wasteful spending and increase planning and oversight for more effective use of our tax dollars;

Improve the condition of our streets and sidewalks - and issue I am working on as Public Works Commissioner;

Improve our local schools through city sponsored educational programs;

Increase family oriented programming

Stop any further expansion of LAX; and

Redirect the city's focus from the downtown to the needs of all the neighborhoods on both sides of PCH.
