City of Hermosa Beach --- Candidate Statements

STATEMENT OF: John M. Workman

CANDICATE FOR: City Treasurer

As the incumbent City Treasurer, I would like to thank the community for the trust given me. Serving as Treasurer for the last six years, I have tried to honor that trust with honesty and dignity. I have an open communication policy with any citizen or community group. I do not have a partisan direction or agenda.

Safety of the public monies is my major concern. Investment return is important, but risk must be minimized with conservative oversight.

My investment policy is submitted yearly and approved by resolution of the City Council. Since taking office, I have earned over $3,700,000 from investment of the City's surplus idle funds.

I have attended every (12) California Municipal Treasurers Association education workshops, consisting of an intensive two and a half days of: municipal investment, law, cash management, banking and ethics. Economic forecast conferences and public finance workshops augment my ongoing education. I have served on a number of community boards and investment committees

Continuing education and a sincere commitment to improvement, support my focus. I will continue to do my best as your trusted employee. Your community is also my community.

John M. Workman, Treasurer
