City of Hermosa Beach --- Candidate Statements

STATEMENT OF: Fred Huebscher

CANDIDATE FOR: Member of City Council

Dear Voter,

In 1938, my family moved to Southern California to flee Nazi persecution. This country as given my family so much and I want to give something back by serving on our city council.

I want to improve Hermosa Beach and restore civility to the city council.

A life-long resident of this area, I graduated from UCLA and public schools. For the past six years, I have lived and owned a successful business in Hermosa Beach.

I have a history of community service. I have donated hundreds of books and videos to our library. I am an active supporter of the Hermosa Beach Education Foundation, Free Clinic, Sierra Club and Doheny Eye Clinic.

My goals include:

-Eliminating the $18,000 yearly car allowances and the $20,000 expenditures for laptop computers for our councilmembers.

-Reducing the $125,000 spent by city departments on travel, conferences and memberships.

-Having city offices open Monday-Friday instead of Monday-Thursday.

-Installing traffic signals at the Valley/Ardmore/Pier intersection.

-Reducing street noise in our neighborhoods.

-Donating my entire salary to our library and police department.

Please call me at (310) 937-6300.

On November 2, elect a new leader: FRED HUEBSCHER
